Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The applicant must be a legal resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  2. Applicants must have completed at least 6 months of a B average at the time of application.
  3. The applicant must be enrolled in a mortuary college in the semester, or quarter, following the awarding of the scholarship.
  4. The applicant shall submit a cover letter and a typewritten statement of no more than 500 words regarding the student's goals in funeral service and how he/she plans to accomplish these goals. This statement shall become the property of the foundation, with editorial and publication rights reserved for the foundation. Retain a copy for your records, as duplications will not be provided.
  5. The cover letter and statement must be submitted prior to June 15 of each year to be considered. Recipients will be announced at the annual Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association State Convention. The trustees realize that students may not have received their grade point average by June 15th. Current registration may qualify the student. Grants will be mailed to students upon proof of grade point average and enrollment for the next semester/quarter of Mortuary College. Alternate winners may be named if those originally chosen fail to meet all requirements.

Narrative Portion

The balance of the application requires narrative answers of reasonable length and will be a major consideration for the basis of awarding the scholarships. The narrative will be judged on content, as well as proper grammar, punctuation and composition. Please address all three topics:
  1. Identify the experiences that influenced your decision to enter funeral service.
  2. Describe what you perceive to be the future of funeral service in Wisconsin in the next decade.
  3. Describe what you have to offer Wisconsin funeral service in the next decade, and what you would like your position to be in the same time frame
