I was inspired to enter this line of work...by a family friend that showed me that one
person can make a difference in someone else's life.
The most
challenging aspect of my job is...balancing
work and family
The
thing that's changed the most in the industry since I started has
been...the increased cremation rate and perceptions of memorial/
funeral services
The most
rewarding part of my job is...getting that sincere hug after the
service and knowing that this is better than words.
My work philosophy is…come into work
on time, work hard to get your work done, and then go out and play or
spend time with your family just as hard.
The most memorable moment in my career was...arranging
for and conducting services for 2 Iraqi war servicemen and our chief of
police
If I were to give advice
to someone entering this line of work, it would be...find a
place to apprentice before or while going to school. There is more to
funeral service than meeting families, embalming, and doing
services!!!!!
The direction I’d
like to see our industry move is....to be able to embrace change
and still be able to maintain our profession
If I weren't doing this, I'd probably be...working
a trade job with actual set hours!!!!
When I'm not working, I’m usually...over hunting, fishing,
or helping on the family farm, or volunteering time with the Boy/Cub
Scouts
My favorite place to
travel is...to Ecuador to visit my In laws!!!!!
My dream trip is…a month long
sabbatical In Tuscany with my wife to gorge on food and wine.
The personal goals I want to achieve are...to
be able to retire early enough to be able to enjoy life
The most inspiring or interesting book I’ve
read lately is...who has time to read??
My favorite
website or webtool is…Ebay
The movie I'm recommending these days is...with a 7 and 9
year old controlling the selections, if it is not animated, I haven't
seen It!!
The best decision I ever made was...coming back as close
to home as I could when I graduated from college
