In the Hitchcock-like movie "Flightplan," a casket carrying a body home
to the US is used for smuggling. However, the TSA loophole that
Hollywood used for the movie will soon be history. The Transportation
Security Administration will be implementing a new policy as of August
1, 2010 in which 100% of air cargo transported on passenger craft will
be screened. This policy includes human remains.
The NFDA is providing information on this important change on its website,
which includes a free web seminar on the new regulations. It might not
be as gripping as the Jodie Foster movie, but certainly important, as
these new freight charges will impact the funeral industry.
