Connect With Other Members - WFDA.ORG is Social Media
What’s
Facebook got that WFDA.ORG doesn’t have? Good question, since our
members are using WFDA.ORG to connect with each other. Did you know
that you can log into your profile at WFDA.ORG and comment on a
friend’s wall, share photos, comment on photos, start a blog, comment
on a friend’s blog, and generally stay in touch.
At last
count, twenty-eight of our members had connections to other members,
107 messages had been sent between members and seven members have
posted photos. Not sure what all of this means, well don’t worry, over
the next few months we will be explaining different things you can do
on WFDA.ORG
So you might ask, how do I get started? It’s pretty
simple. Start by logging into WFDA.ORG using your username and
password. Don’t remember it, no problem, just check out our article
from last month, ” Online Opportunities: Get your Username/Password to Join In”.
Once you log-in, look up friends in the Member Directory to connect to them. In the left-hand menu click on Member Search to look up your friends. On the Basic Search page I looked up "Andrus” to see if I could find Paul Andrus. Once I found Paul, I clicked on the Add Connectionlink found in the search results or at the top of the member's personal page.
When you click the Add Connection link, you will be taken to the Send Message
page where you can attach a personal message to the connection
invitation. I sent a message to Paul who received a personal message
notifying him of the invitation. Paul accepted my connection. Once a
recipient accepts the connection, then each of you will display in the
other's connection list. Now Paul Andrus and I are connected in the
online community. (Thanks, Paul!).
Once someone is a
connection, then you can make comments on their wall, which is a
running text list on a home page. To post a message on Paul’s wall, I
clicked the link in my connection list, View Personal Page. Once I got to Paul’s personal page I then clicked on the tab, Wall.
From here I posted a comment on Paul’s wall. Give it a try on your own
wall. Like Facebook, you can use wall posts to respond to conversations
started by your friends.
In future articles I’ll talk about how
to start a blog, post photos and comments on your wall. In the mean
time, feel free to give them a try.
Political Watch
State
Senate Bill 338, raising the Medicaid (Title 19) funeral cap from
$3,500 to $4,500 passed the Senate Government Operations Committee, 5-0
, last week. This is the first step of many but it’s a very
encouraging first step. The bill’s sponsor, Sen. John Lehman
(D-Racine) hopes to move the bill to the full Senate by mid-March.
